Default Error when saving as .ai with Create PDF Compatible File checked

I am having trouble saving as an .ai file with "Create PDF Compatible File" checked. I am also having trouble saving as a Illustrator PDF. I get an error message when ever I try this. Anyone know what the problem is?
    Thanks,

Default Re: Error when saving as .ai with Create PDF Compatible File checked

This subject has been discussed any number times, and I can't recall anyone finding a definitive answer. (But search the forum in case I'm wrong).

This is just a hunch. Try removing the PDFMessage file from the Plugins folder. Restart Illustrator without it. If the problem persists my hunch is probably wrong.
