Error with Insert Flash HTML for Dreamweaver MX 2004

when I try and insert an html page using the Insert Flash HTML for Dreamweaver
MX 2004, V1.1.0 extention it gives me the error that the file I have selected
is not the correct format and I should select an html file exported from flash.
I am using both flash and DW MX2004 . Does anyone have an answer.

Also, is there anything in particular in the Flash html page that you
need besides the SWF itself? Have you just tried to insert the SWF
directly within DW?

Check if the file has a swf extension, this is the one you need to insert.
The .fla files are ONLY for Flash.

I know how to insert an swf but the extension write up indicates that you can insert the flash html and also set a gif or jpg if the flash plug in is not detected. I want to use this for a banner.

Not sure what the error is that is occuring, but you shoudl be abel to
copy and paste the code from the Flash HTML page into your page to get
it to work properly.

Did you by chance publish your movie to an earlier version of Flash?

Well that may work but I was under the impression that this extension did the
plugin detection and replaced the flash with a gif. That is what I am looking
for. This is a macromedia extention is it not. I did the tutorial with the
tiger html on this site and it did not work then either.

I think it is a Macromedia extension, but that doesn't mean there aren't
any issues with it. Perhaps you can post your Flash HTML page and the
page you're trying to import it into, maybe there is something that it
is tripping up over. Have you tried to reexport the HTML file from
within Flash?


No idea what the tiger html is. Got a link?

I have published in as many different ways as I can and used multible flash
movies and still it gives me the same error. Here is the link to the tutorial

Can you post a link to the specific pages that you're working with? The
page you want to insert into and the flash HTML page and the SWF, and
replacement image if that is being used to so that others can test it
out to see i it is happening on their systems too.

I am having this same problem right now trying to go thru this Wildlife Project
tutorial from Macromedia. I downloaded and installed the extension for
inserting Flash HTML into DW, and it gives me the same error when I go thru the
steps. Whats the deal?

Appears to be an issue with either the extension and the code generated
by Flash. Please report the issue here:
