Error: You can't edit this page because it wasn't foundon the website or it is a directory listing
- using Contribute 3 with all updates applied
- site consists of ASP pages but most are just static HTML
- pages are all in folders to take advantage of Contribute's ability to
restrict access by user
- certain pages always come up with "Error: You can't edit this page because
it wasn't found on the website or it is a directory listing" however, if you
select the page on the web server using the Choose button, Contribute allows
editing these pages!
- the pages with this problem do not have any ASP script, they are just plain
HTML pages but they have an ASP file extension
- other pages that DO contain ASP script as well as some that do not, work
just fine in Contribute - nothing unusual about these pages
Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? I'm convinced it is a
Contribute bug but the Choose button workaround is not making my clients happy.

Re: Error: You can't edit this page because it wasn't found on the website or it is a directory listing
Make sure the filename and extension of the file/page you are pointing
to via the Choose menu uses the exact same filename and extension as
the page you are having the troubles with. For example, our site uses
the .htm extension. But when we mistakenly create a link to a filename
with the .html extension and try to edit it in Contribute, we get the
same error message that you are getting.
Also, if you have Contribute point to a directory (eg.
http://www.server.com/directory/), make sure that when you administer
your site the filename with the proper extension is listed in the Index
Files dialog under Web Server > Index Files.

I understand that this is not an "official support channel" for
Adobe/Macromedia but C'MON. Surely someone there must occasionally read these
forums?
I'm dealing with a Contribute BUG and trying to convince my customers that
they should continue to use Contribute! Why can't I get any help with that
effort?
