Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
Hi,
I was using Yahoo! Merchant Solutions Dreamweaver Extension with MX2004.
I got a new PC(WinXP) and recently installed Studio 8.
I'm having an error msg that pops up as soon as I launch Dreamweaver.
=====>The following translators were not loaded due to errors
Yahoo_Store.htm has configuration information that is invalid<=====
I have to click OK 3 or 4 times as Dreamweaver starts up,.
The Yahoo item is on the menubar at the top and when I try to navigate thru
Yahoo-->Merchant Solutions --> Manage Sites, the following error pops up (Msg
Box)
=====>While executing onLoad in YahooStore_Manager.htm, a JavaScript error
occured.<=====
After I click OK a couple of times, I'm able to get to the Manage Yahoo
Merchant Solutions Sites. These errors continue to pop up as I try to set up a
new site.
I called Yahoo and once they learned that I havent even set it up to connect
to my Yahoo Merchant site yet, I try contacting Macromedia. This appears to be
a generic error that isnt connected to my Yahoo site.
Any help is really appreciated. Thank you !!

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
:frown; I'm having the same problem...I can't even get the help menu to
load...Yahoo concurs it's a DW8 problem. Templates won't load correctly &
there's a js error on nearly every item I click...I finally just gave up &
disabled the extension. I've tried everything from reinstalling the extension,
to uninstalling & reinstalling the extension manager. Nothing works. If I can
find the answer, I'll post it here, but I'm running out of support options to
get one.

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
I couldn't lauch the Help section either. I tried the re-install routines a few
times myself before calling Yahoo.
However, they insist that it is supposed to work with DW8 and suggested that I
send them an email with the details.
If this is a problem with DW8 & Yahoo, I'd suspect that more people would have
this problem.
How do you plan to work your way around this ? You say the templates dont
seem to load. What templates are these ?? Were these created with MX2004 ?
Is your plan to work on the Catalog Manager, store etc., on a browser using
Yahoo's web interface and then use DW8 for other things on the site ??
Thanks.

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
I managed to eliminate one of the errors by renaming the Configuration file to
Configuration_old.
I'm not sure if this is the right direction I'm moving in, but I saw
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=a3f38dcf#wont_start
on the known issues technotes section.
"Issue
Some users are reporting that Dreamweaver does not start. The common
characteristic is that the splash screen appears momentarily, then the
application closes.
Solution
We are investigating the issue to determine the root cause.
Most users report the problem is resolved by renaming the Configuration folder
and then launching Dreamweaver. The Configuration folder can be found in the
following locations.
* Windows - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration"
Renaming the Configuration file eliminated the first error I was getting
during startup. I'm not sure this is the solution though. Any inputs are
appreciated. Thanks !

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
On
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=190&thre
adid=899492 a user was having this problem.
Is anyone using DW8 from a new install and the Yahoo extension?
I keep getting Javascript errors and the system is looking for files in the
wrong folders.
Now that I've eliminated the first error msg by renaming the Configuration
folder, there seems to be some trouble with another Configuration folder.
On the DW8 menu, I try and navigate thru the Yahoo-->Merchant
Solutions-->Manage Sites, I get the Y! Merchant Solutions Site Definition box.
Then, I get this error
At line 147 of file
"C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\Commands/YahooStore_SiteDef.js:
Exception thrown in native function."
But the YahooStore_SiteDef.js file is in the other (newly recreated)
Configuration file at "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\Commands"
And when I shut down DW8, I get this error
At line 21 of file "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\Shutdown\ys_xml_shutdown.htm" :
Exception thrown in native function.
Again, this file is actually in the location "C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\Shutdown"
So this seems to be connected to the Configuration folder. Hopefully, we're
making some progress here :-)

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
tabasco1, did you already have DWMX2004 on the computer you installed DW8 on?

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
I used to have DWMX2004 and overhauled my old PC completely. New hard disk,
memory, new install of WinXP etc.
So this is a new/different machine in the same case. The only difference is
that I installed Studio8 instead of DWMX2004(I didnt use the upgrade option. I
did a clean install of Studio 8).

Are you getting the same error messages ??
Do you have the same issue with the 'Configuration' folder ??

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
Yes, I am getting all of the same errors you are getting.
Also, I have a theory that if you install DWMX2004 first and then install DW8
that this will work fine. Or are you aware of anyone running a new install of
DW8 that has the extension working? I would test this myself but I only have
DW8.
Thanks.

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
itdontcompute,
Are you suggesting that I install MX2004 and then immediately try to upgrade
it to DW8 ? I assume you mean try to upgrade using the
http://www.click-now.net/html/DreamwaverMX2004.htm.
I cant seem to find the DWMX 2004 download on the Macromedia site. There are
links to the new version, not 2004, as far as I can tell.
I'm not sure why your theory should work, but am hoping it does :-)

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
I am suggesting that you install DWMX2004, then try to install/upgrade DW8
using the (DW8)CD ?
And I would install the extension in DWMX2004 first.
If you would prefer, give me a little while and I will try this myself with
the trial of DWMX2004 I am downloading from your link.

You will need to contact the author of the extension to get the fix for
this.
Hope this helps,

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
Randy,
Thank you for your response.
I have talked to Yahoo Technical support and they believe that "the Extension
should be compatible with the new version of Dreamweaver".
I'm working on resolving this, but if you can pass this on to someone with
some expertise in the Extension Manager/Yahoo Extensions area, that'd be great
!!
Any suggestions/tips/workarounds you guys can throw at me will really be
appreciated.
I understand that ultimately, only the author of the extension can provide a
fix(if thats needed). But specifically, do you believe that this is a
(DW)version issue ?
So far, it looks like that, but you must be in a better position to make that
call. If this is related/similar to the Configuration folder issue listed in
the known isses page on Studio 8, can you suggest a workaround in this case too
?? Then theres the question of the JavaScript errors.
Right now, I have just 1 question that I'd like to be answered.
Does the Yahoo extension work with DW8 ?(If anyone has used it/is using it,
pls let me know)
Thank You !!

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
On Randy's suggestion, I tried to get in touch with the author(s) of the
extension(shown in Extension Manager as Yahoo! Inc.)
Called Yahoo again and the Tech support guy and this is how the conversation
went
Me : Can you just let me know if Yahoo Extensions will work with DW8 ?
Y!: You'll have to check with Macromedia
Me : But you guys are the authors of the extension and I'd like to just know
if it works with Studio8
Y! : We only provide support for DW extensions through email. You will have to
send an email
Me: But are you aware of any issues ? Is there someone I can check this with ?
Y!: Our engineers do not talk on the phone, but you can send an email to
****@yahoo-inc.com
Me: Ok. Can you atleast tell me if you've had other people calling in with
similar complaints ?
Y! : I can answer that. Yes. We've had other callers with the same or similar
issues regarding Dreamweaver 8

Re: Errors on Yahoo Extension with DW 8.0
I have the strong feeling the author need to fix/update the extension in
order to make it run on DW 8
I don't use the extension myself, but I've seen posts from people that were
unable to make it works under DW 8
Thank you for the response Massimo Foti ! Dont you think that the folks @
Yahoo might be working on a fix as we speak, given that its been a while since
DW8 came out ??
If you dont mind, can you point me to those posts that discuss this issue ?
Thanks !!
Randy has a *very* solid knowledge in the area
I certainly didn't intend to suggest otherwise. I'm hoping he can help us out
here..

Hello,
Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Store Support.
I have read and understand your inquiry regarding having supported
extensions for Dreamweaver 8. We've had numerous reports of Dreamweaver
8 working fine with the current extensions. You may want to test this
out and see if you're able to do so. I have also forwarded your
comments to our development team.
Please do not hesitate to reply if you need further assistance.

Also, my theory did not work. I installed DWMX2004 got it working with the
Yahoo extention and then installed DW8 and still no luck.

Yes, my knowledge in this area is almost as good as Massimo's ;)
Please disable all other extensions that you have installed to see if
maybe it works with DW8, but there is a conflict with another extension.
Can someone post a link to the extension?
Thanks,
Randy
