evil texture distortion on magnify +/-

Digital art textures show well in photoshop at certain sizes (25%, 50%, 100%) and very poor resolution at other views (33%, 66.7%, others) Have you ever heard of this or possibly know of a solution?

We've determined that it is unique to running on XP Proffesional in Photoshop 7.0. (and 7.01) No problems at all with Win2K pro. There has to be a fix!

P4 2.53 boards, Photoshop 7.01, Mitsubishi Diamond Pro Monitors, 1.5 Gig
DDR RAM, Matrox Parhelia 128 and 256, G400Max, several Radeon cards too.

first just let me say that viewing at anything other than 100% is an approximation. you're not actually seeing what's there.

ok that's out of the way, your problem is, given that both machines are exactly alike except for os, driver related. update the driver on the machine that's not working properly. if that fails to fix it, you can turn down video acceleration on the card and that'll probably clear it up. then be sure to write the manufacturer and tell them to clean up their drivers for xp.

This is something I've come to accept. I use Photoshop on both platforms across 3 different monitors. Dave is right, it is an approximation, using magnifications that are multiples of 4 (25, 50, 75, 100, 200, ...) will yield the best results. There isn't any "fix" its a mathematical thing.

If you haven't already found the hardware acceleration settings in WinXP, go through the dialog windows Display Properties > Settings Tab Sheet > Troubleshoot Tab Sheet and you should find it there.
