Exchange mailboxes
Can anyone suggest why, when I create a user, their
mailbox is not created. I am including a mailbox alias
which, by excluding it, is the 'official' way of not
creating a mailbox for a user. The OS is Windows SBS 2003
with Exhchage Technology, ie Exchange is built into the
OS. The basic user account is there as I can log in using
the new account name. The OS has licences for 30 users
with 23 in use. Original users set up ok

Re: Exchange mailboxes
Check your event logs for 8331 errors (MSExchangeAL) - this is a bug. Fixed
in E2003 SP1, but if you don't want that, there's a hotfix available for
it - contact Microsoft and they shouldn't charge you for the call. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;837444
In the meantime, a workaround is to restart the Exchange System Attendant
service - will work for a few days, then need to be done again. I've
installed the hotfix on an SBS2003 server and it's just fine.
Note - this isn't the best group for Exchange questions - best to post in
m.p.exchange.admin or one of the smallbiz server groups.
