Explain Contribute/Dreamweaver process
When editing the site using Contribute, the local files are not being edited,
only the remote files. The local files are not on a web server. I tried
'Connecting' to the local files, but since it's not HTTP server Contribute
didn't allow it.
Can I store the local files on our internal web server, then use Contribute to
edit them, following this use Dreamweaver Synchronise feature to upload changed
files to remote server?
I don't want to bypass the local files, but keep them integrated into our
process. Unless someone can provide an alternate workflow that makes sense. We
can't use Check In/Check out, because our process requires a second person to
proof and fix files before uploading -- however, they can't while it's checked
out by intial editor, and when the initial editor checks it in the file gets
uploaded!

Re: Explain Contribute/Dreamweaver process
The entire DW paradigm changes when CT enters the picture.
In DW, you have a local site which is the starting point for any editing
operation. In DW with CT, the remote site becomes the starting point for
any editing operation. The local site ONLY functions as a temporary holding
place for files as they are being edited and before being returned to the
remote site. You cannot 'hold on' to the DW concept of a Local site once
the site is CT enabled.

Re: Explain Contribute/Dreamweaver process
You can maintain an internal web site using the Contribute Publishing Server
(CPS). With that you can implement an internal staging web site, which is
managed by the CPS and is the site that Contribute end users work on. In the
CPS you can add the Simple File Deployer web service to transfer newly
published pages from the staging web site to the real live web site.
