Export as PSD changes CMYK values
Export as PSD changes CMYK values? freehand 9 + 10 - not tryed MX???
I export at 300dpi convert colours to CMYK, export layers and when i load it
up its the wrong colour -
e.g.
C30 M80 Y20 K3 comes out in chipshop as C33 M83 Y23 K0....
Note the K value has been added to the CMY and then been subtracted from the K
channel?? whats this all about -
exporting as an EPS leaves the colours intact...... All k values are added to
the CMY values every time i do it on every file exporting to PSD.... - is it
just me or is it just another usless macromedia function?

Re: Export as PSD changes CMYK values
Use the Photoshop 3 EPS format to preserve your CMYK values. The file will
have the quaint .art file extension.
---Quote from FHMX Help files-------
Exporting to Photoshop EPS format
You can export FreeHand artwork to Photoshop as vector artwork using the
Photoshop EPS format.
To preserve colors in CMYK mode when exporting to Photoshop, use Photoshop 3
EPS format, or EPS with TIFF (Windows) or Macintosh EPS (Macintosh).
Photoshop 4 or later EPS format rasterizes files, and all colors are
converted to RGB.

When in doubt, it pays to read the Help files. :-)

Re: Export as PSD changes CMYK values
Exactly - i know i can export as EPS but thats not what i want - not on a file
with 12-14 layers i want preserved and aligned perfictly - shaw you can do it
but its about efficancy of use...... Point is then that Macromedia have
included a (mostly) usless export as PSD function - you would have thought the
colours woruld be correct - i mean its not an obscure request.
So i guess you guys are just confirming it does not work.....

Re: Export as PSD changes CMYK values
It pains me, a long-time FreeHand fan, to have to send you to Illustrator --
that indispensable accessory application to FH ---to do this.
1. Export layered CYMK file to AI7 format.
2. Open in Illustrator. Save as PSD.
3. Open PSD in Photoshop. Layers and CMYK colors are intact.
