Default Export from Illustrator and colors look worse in Photoshop

After having done with a design in Illustrator CS, I exported it to JPEG file but the colors then look very terrible (pale and brighter). How to make the right colors like it was before exported?

Are you using the same color settings in Illustrator and Photoshop?
See: <http://studio.adobe.com/tips/tip.jsp?p=1&id=86&xml=phs7colmang>

Another reason could be the JPEG format. It isn't the best format
when you need consistent colors because the compression used in the
JPEG format can change the colors.

Kelvin,
>>the colors then look very terrible (pale and brighter).<<
When viewed in what application?

If you are referring to a web browser or other non-colour managed
environment, then you need to set your RGB working space to sRGB to gat any
where near the same appearance outside Illustrator.

Madsen and Hewitt,

This is a sample of my work before and after exported from Illustrator CS (http://photos.yahoo.com/milano_hung). I use Photoshop 7.0 to view the image and to cut for web. After I read Madsen's suggestion, I selected RGB mode in Export window and the colors were improved lightly but it's still paler than original colors and especially with the texts, they look somehow blur (see the samples).

Illustrator CS uses Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0 color setting while default setting of Photoshop 7.0 is "Color Management Off" (and I only could find Emulate Photoshop 4 in the drop-down menu). Is this the cause to make colors different?

Kelvin,

Turning off Photoshop's CMS is a VERY retrograde step! You will NEVER
achieve reliable and repeatable results that way.

Go to :

http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htm and spend 15 minutes
or so learning exactly how to set up Photoshop's colour settings.

Once you have set them up, from PS7's Edit>Colour Settings d/box, SAVE your
colour settings to a colour settings file (.CSF).

From Illustrator's Edit>Colour Settings d/box LOAD the .csf you just saved.
Now you can be confident that both applications are using identical colour
managements settings, and images will look the same in both applications.
