    Hi,

I am having a simialr problem. I have loaded up an image in Fireworks. I thereafter sliced it up and exported it to Dreamweaver in html format.

The problem is that i dont know how to add text on top of the individual sliced images. When i attempt to do so, the text replaces the image completely. Alternately, the text is formatted below the image.

Is there a way to add text over the images?

    Thanks in advance
    Y co.za

Only if you delete the image slice where you want the text, then use the
image slice as the background image for the table cell you deleted it from.

Dreamweaver is an HTML authoring system. You cannot add text *to* an image
using HTML. You can add text *over* an image by having the image be the
background of some HTML page element, like the page itself, or a table. You
can also add text *over* an image by using CSS positioning to position the
text (and its container) over the image.

Your question is often asked by people who create a web page by designing
the whole thing in FW, then slicing and exporting the images and the HTML,
and then use DW just to upload the HTML. Be aware that this is a very poor
method of building a web page, as it creates pages that are usually much to
heavy for web use, and much too inflexible for holding content of varying
    dimensions.

Perhaps a better understanding of what you are wanting to do on our part,
and a better understanding of how HTML works on your part would be handy
    here....
