Default export to pdf vs print to PS file then use distiller to creat pdf: problems with fonts, transparency

All I need is a nice pdf.

    1. Using the export feature, I see a place to select 5.0 compatibility to preserve transparency. On screen in Acrobat it does appear to, and my fonts are beautiful, but I cannot print the file from Acrobat! "Unable to print file."

    2. However, when I print to a postscript file (to then use distiller to create the pdf), I cannot figure out how to preserve transparency. It always flattens the document. And the fonts are choppy.

It seems to me I'm missing settings somewhere, but perhaps that is an off-base theory.

Default export to pdf vs print to PS file then use distiller to creatpdf: problems with fonts, transparency

Postscript doesn't support transparency. The only way to preserve it in
    the PDF is to export.

That said, you shouldn't be having a problem printing a properly created
PDF. What printer are you trying to print to and what were your export
settings? And what version of Acrobat/Reader are you printing from?

Default Re: export to pdf vs print to PS file then use distiller to creat pdf: problems with fonts, transparency

I have a post scripting problem. Hope someone can help me. Mind you I'm not an expert. I post script in the print que and click and drag the ps file to the distiller. (settings are: Crop Marks checked, offset .125, Bleed 1.25 all sides, custom paper size) Upon opening the pdf looks great with the exception of the text from previous pages show up on the page before in the margins on the right side. On some pages the text on the left side of the margins come from the page before. What is that?
