Exporting causing resized document sizes
I've read the posts on this problem and tried their solutions but I cannot get my desired results....
I have created an image in FH10 with a document size of 300x200 pixels, created a bounding box 300x200pixels (no line, no fill), and exported as a DCS2 eps file. I tried exporting with 'selected objects only' selected and also unselected. The dpi in FH is at 300.
When I open the exported files in FW4 the image has been moved flush left bottom corner.......
Is there something I have missed ?

Re: Exporting causing resized document sizes
Without a line or fill, the eps may skip over the bounding box. I
suggest you try adding a line to the bounding box. Then when you
get the eps file into FW, just delete the line. I do this all the
time when taking art into Photoshop. I use the bounding box line
to keep exported files in registration then delete them when they
are no longer necessary.

Why a DCS2 file? Could you try other file formats: generic eps,
tiff etc?
You don't say what system but here is link to set up a virtual
printer on a Mac with OSX.

DCS--a format designed to deliver raster images separated purely for
print--to get art into a web image application? I don't know much about
getting art from FH into FW, but I would imagine DCS being just about
the most inappropriate format for this. I'll take a wild guess on what
is happenning: FW is putting the low-res composite preview of the DCS
into the bottom left of a canvas the size of its high-res separations.

Re: Exporting causing resized document sizes
I am using this formast because it is the ony eps format that doesn't open as a puelry black image???
All other eps exports when opened in FW are 100% useless, this is the only format that opens with any resemblence of what the artwork is supposed to look like ..... (albeit flush left/botttom corner).

Re: Exporting causing resized document sizes
Yeah, what Danny said ...
Seriously, DCS is an EPS flavor, a PostScript format. It should never be
used for any workflow that doesn't include a PostScript interpreter. This
means that, generally, it should only be used for PS print targeted jobs.
DCS is appropriate for both raster, vector, and text based art as it is a
true meta-file format. It is often associated with raster artwork because
DCS, currently the single file DCS v2 format, is the only way to get spot
colors out of Photoshop. It does have other valuable uses in a PS workflow.

Re: Exporting causing resized document sizes
Nuksie;
No problems importing a quark eps exported from freehand 10 into fw4
here--of course it is rasterized on import. If you wish to import editable
vector than try opening a Freehand file (ai format offers another option).
You will have to downsave as fw4 predated freehand 10, and although there
are some issues it works fairly well. Conversion of text to paths can be
problematic due to antialiasing differences between text and path in
fw. -Tom Unger

familiar with Fireworks I believe you'll only be opening the (raster)
preview image in any case. You might as well use a format like TIFF,
which would give you some control of the image resolution as well as
the colour model.
