Exporting compound paths to dxf format
Our CAD team are pulling their hair out because every time I supply them with a DXF or DWG export from Illustrator CS, the compound paths disappear. This means crisp o's in Illustrator look like blobby filled elipses in AutoCAD and the A's, like naff arrows (as if drawn by some microsoft draw programme...)
Am exporting with "Alter paths for Appearance" and "Outline text" checked although the latter seems to make no difference because all text has been converted to paths already. Am also exporting to the LT2000 option of AutoCAD
Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Exporting compound paths to dxf format
I too am pulling my hair out. Did you ever resolve this problem? I've discovered that compound paths exported from Illustrator v10 convert just fine, but not from CS. In fact, compound paths from old v10 files that are opened in CS also export just fine, but any new paths made in that drawing do not.

Re: Exporting compound paths to dxf format
Never found any solution to this John. Our CAD boys ended up drawing in filled circles for o's and triangles for a's in the lettering of a logo I was exporting. Looks like it's an issue for the IllyCS development team to look at (did you hear that guys?!). It's good to hear that Illy 10 works as I have an older version here I can try out. Thanks.
