Re: exporting for word
I agree...Word and PowerPoint don't support all the attributes of transparent PNGs. JPGs tend to display "blurry" and print with halos around small text (depending on what printer/driver you choose).
So, if the logo doesn't use too many complex effects (drop shadows, clipping paths), you can try this:
1) Duplicate the AI and convert all text to curves (this alleviates any potential font substitution problems)
2) Export as EMF
3) Place EMF in Word or PowerPoint
4) Right click on imported graphic and choose EDIT PICTURE
You will immediately see a dramatic difference in the quality of the rendered screen graphic.
By converting the metafile to a native Microsoft Picture format, this works about 95% of the time and makes a huge difference in the display quality.
Note that it has no effect on printing ... it prints well either way.

Re: exporting for word
sebjo,
This may be a silly way of doing it, but it works in word processing programmes (I use something better than Worst):
a) change the size to at least 4 times the intended size in the document.
b) If the logo is not a rectangle, make a rectangle round it, no stroke, no fill (to avoid cut off).
c) Choose Save for web (SFW), GIF (for crispness), transparency checked; you can see the file size before you save.
This will give you a crisp image in at least 288 dpi (4x72 which is SFW resolution).

Re: exporting for word
I've been placing AI exported JPEG pics into Word and I found that effect too, that it appears blurry, but when I zoom into the Word document I find that the blurriness goes away. Could it perhaps be a preview thing?

Re: exporting for word
Have you also tried?
In Illustrator, Select all and convert text to outlines.
Group object/logo, copy to clipboard, paste into Word.
(It won't work unless text is converted to outlines first.)
