    Default Exporting graphic changes image...?

I have a graphic I created; a couple of layers with overlying text and some
effects like drop shadow - fairly simple. When I try to export the graphic
to use as a gif, the effects (i.e.., drop shadow) disappear. What I am
    missing or doing wrong.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ray
