Default Exporting InDesign CS documents as high res graphic images

I'm new to InDesogn CS and just created a one-page brochure with text and graphics. I would like to export the document into a high resolution (300-600 dpi) graphic image so I can alter the size and shape when necessary. The export formats are only PDF, JPG, and SVG at low resolution. I've already tried saving a JPG and taking it into Photoshop but when it's changed to 300 dpi, it looks horrible. Anyone have any thoughts on a work-around or plug-ins that may help me? I'd be most greatful. Thanks.

Why not export as an EPS? That will do the trick. So will a PDF if you
    choose the proper quality settings.

Thank you very much Cyndee. The eps format worked great! I don't understand much about eps and I was looking for a way to set the resolution.

Does it look any better if you change the JPG to 1200 dpi in Photoshop?

I'd use PDF myself. Avoids flattening issues and scales perfectly.

EPS has no resolution (ditto for PDF) - the vector data (fonts and
vector shapes) remain as vector, which are resolution-independent; the
raster elements remain at their original resolution (exception: you can
make a low-res PDF for on-screen viewing, which would downsample your
    images to 72ppi).

This is really what you would want, anyway - rasterizing your brochure
is not the way to go (unless you're wanting to place it on a website)
since you'd lose all of that vector information and thereby decrease the
    print quality of those elements.

Thank you for your explanation. It all makes sense. Thank you.

This statement can be misleading. EPS can very well have 'resolution'. Encapsulated PostScript is a package of vector and/or bitmap art. If there are bitmap images in your design, you definitely want to make sure that you define your output resolution when exporting PDF or EPS.

Not when you read the rest of my post where I specifically mention that
any raster elements in the EPS will be included at their original
    resolution, whatever that may be.

Yes Brian - I recognized that you qualified your statement but I was only supplementing your explanation, not contesting it.

raster elements in the EPS will be included at their original resolution,
    whatever that may be.

The resolution of the raster elements are also defined by the options when you export the EPS. (again, not to contradict anything you wrote - - I'm just supplementing)

Also of note here is that if you export to EPS any transparency will be
    flattened and likely rasterized.

You could also have printed with the postscript driver 'to a file' and then done what you wish with the output, no?
