    Default exporting/saving only selected objects???

Is it possible to save or export only selected objects in an Illustrator document? It would really help me a lot because I often have a lot of objects in my document and I only want to export parts of it to my plotter. I have tried locking or hiding objects that I don´t want to export/save to my plotter program, but that doesn´t work.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks y´all!

PS. By the way, this forum ROCKS! You guys have really helped me solving my hardest, weirdest, oldest, hard-to-shake-problems.

Draw a rectangle over the area you want to export, select it, and go to
objects, crop area, make. Then you will only export whats inside the
    rectangle.

Double click with the artboard tool on the object you want. It makes an artboard around your object. You can easily export only artboards. this is cs 4+ though.

Illustrator is really great, but it's because of simple situations like these that I still use Freehand to do some works.
