Exporting Text
I have Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0.8 that came with a Fujitsu ScanSnap
scanner. I've used it several times to convert the PDF scan of a book
page to text but either I can't remember exactly how I did it or the
program doesn't work the same way each time. What I thought I did
tonight that worked on one page, but not another was:
a) Scan the page and save as a PDF file.
b) Click on the binocular icon on the Acrobat toolbar to search the
file. (Document/Recognize Text Using OCR should work as well, but also
did not seem to produce consistent results.)
c) After entering a word, and telling it to search, I am notified that
the file is not searchable and asked if I want to use OCR. I say OK.
d) After running the OCR, I then SaveAs text (plain).
Sometimes this works, and sometimes it produces a blank text file. Does
anyone have any idea what's going on and how I can make sure it works
each time? Many thanks.
