exporting to DW/HTML - Macromedia Fireworks

Hi I'm still fairly new to DW/FW, but have been working on a site for a friend, and have gotten the hang of creating navigation bars using the FW slice tool. Default exporting to DW/HTML

    Hi

I'm still fairly new to DW/FW, but have been working on a site for a friend,
and have gotten the hang of creating navigation bars using the FW slice tool.
So I've done that, and exported to DW, creating a new file/page for each of the
site with the navigation bar at the top. So far so good

However, I've created a smaller basic nav bar to appear at the bottom of each
page, but when i try to export to DW, it won't let me export it to an existing
page - they appear grayed out in the *export to* dialogue box (OSX)

Is this right, or am is there something else i need to be doing

The site in question is up at

    www.iainmacdonald.pwp.blueyonder.co.u

Under the *cards* page, I've added a draft of the page footer - with the mini
nav bar just as an image at the moment
(all its going to do is highlight the links as a darker gray and underline
    them on mouse over)

Its all sliced up and ready to go in FW, but how can I pop it into the
existing DW page? Is an option to export it into a new page, then copy and
paste the appropriate code between some div tags for example

    Cheers

For one, you need to fix this. Do you see that everything is pointing to
your hard drive? One of the ways that can happen is if you forget to
save the file in Dreamweaver before exporting it to your site.

i'd spotted this too and wondered what the hell was happening...

    AFAIK everything is saved tho'..

but presumably the files are all uploaded, as the site works away from my own
    pc

like i say i'm fairly new to this - what exactly do i need to do to fix this

I think you probably need to set up the site properly in Dreamweaver,
and when you export from Fireworks, export to the directory you set up
for the site in Dreamweaver. Then Fireworks will produce notes that tell
    Dreamweaver where to find everything.

ok - i've had another look at all that. i've recently switched from pc to mac,
and brought the site's files across. plus i've redone the nav bars with
slightly different headings - so i don't think all that helped

anyway, i've redone the home page, which is back up at
    www.iainmacdonald.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

the references to the c: drive have gone thank goodness

i did export all the png graphics as jpgs as well to reduce filesizes this time

again - all seemed fine. (although i've noticed in DW that the images aren't
displaying, but instead a grey area, and graphics presumably representing that
    they're not available)

and now, even tho it looks fine over the internet, when i preview from DW, its
just coming up with all the graphics missing

anyway, its late here now, so I hope that makes some sense, and I'll have
    another look tomorrow

oh - and whats this now about 8 bit PNG files.....

    cheers
    Iai
