Extension Manager crashes on start

Am unable to start the Extension manager (1.6x) for DW-MX2004.

1. Have reinstalled EM
2. Have read the Tech Article 19144: moved the DW-MX extensions in
Configuration folder to "Hidden" folder, etc. CRASH continues.
3. Am able to use existing extensions, but cannot install, uninstall or
whatever.

Not sure if this anomaly is my problem and connected, but using first DW-MX
and now DW-MX2004, if I do not have a document open, and happen to click on the
Command Menu item, I get a transparent series of error messages, all
overlapping. They all seem to be connected to the "daily image" extension. I
can repeat this problem...

You may need to completely trash the DW *users* config folder and start
over.
