External Link - Send for review problem

After identifying that links outside of our Intranet are causing hundreds of
documents to be drafted and sent for review I have to ask why this is
happening. I will detail the problem below:

A page containted a link to a specific file server outside of our intranet
such as <a href="FILE://<compname>/shared$">

If I or anyone is editting this page, at the point of submitting it for review
Contribute freezes for a while then proceeds to grab hundreds of unrealted
documents and sends them for review to the same person(s) I inititally selected
for the one page I was editting.

I have removed this link from the page and sure enough Contribute behaves
properly and does send other documents for review. Is there a way to avoid
this nusance? I am using Contribute 3.0 currently and will look into upgrading
to 3.1 in the near future but I have not read that 3.1 addresses anything
similar to this. Any information about this would be helpful as I have no idea
why this is happening.

I have experienced this problem as well and it is getting frustrating. If
there is any insight on what is causing this, we would greatly appreciate it.
In addition, when I attempt to go back and cancel all the created drafts,
Contribute freezes. If I leave it go for 20 minutes, it will finally request
if I wish to cancel the draft, if I state yes, it then locks up again.
