Drag a rectangle over the images and add a black/white linear fill to
it. The black end of the gradient should be over the part of the images
you want to remain opaque, and the white part should be over the area
you want to fade. Press Shift and select the rectangle plus your images
in the Layers panel, and then choose Modify > Mask > Group as mask. You
can adjust the fade by clicking on the gradient thumbnail in the Layers
panel and moving the handles of the fill adjustment bar.

Net you need to Optimize and Export it. Since you're a beginner, it will
be easiest to use the Export Wizard. Choose File > Export Wizard. Click
the Select an export format radio button, and then the Continue button.
In the next window, click The web radio button and then Continue. Select
Exit to open the image in the Export Preview window. Since the image
will have a gradient, choose JPEG format and play around with the
settings until you get the best looking image but the lowest possible
file size. When you are satisfied, click Export and save the image in
the image folder for your Web site.

Yes but I meant I do not see the colors..... and the result after is still B/W with the fading OK (I hope):

"and then choose Modify > Mask > Group as mask. You
can adjust the fade by clicking on the gradient thumbnail in the Layers
panel and moving the handles of the fill adjustment bar."

This is where I need to know what to do next ..I would like to preview the result first (colors and fading if possible)

    Thanks for being patient....

It's hard for me to say what went wrong without seeing the file.

Here's a tech note about masking in Fireworks 4 that should be helpful
    to you.
