    Default Fading image swap

    Hey there,

Do you guys know how to do a fade in/out image with a swap image activated on over state mode?

Im trying to create this effect (when you cursor is over the image it will fade out while the swap image fade in on the same position)

I know how to swap an image tho, but i cant get that effect !
Do you know the best way to do it?

    Thank you

    Oh, one more thing...
I own Macromedia MX (DW, Flash, FW and FH) do i really need Cold Fusion and Director?
Im not an expert talking about web design, but i've seen that software very often on the forums.

    Cuidense!

    Arnoldo:

The best way to do what you are describing is to make your buttons in Flash.

In my opinion, however, using Flash for navigation is not a good plan, since
some people will just leave the site rather than download the plugin. Other
approaches would be too bulky (i.e, animated GIF) or too proprietary (fade
    effects are IE only).

If you have DMX you already have the ability to WRITE CF code. You would
only need CF server single IP to then test these pages locally, and that's a
    nocharge download from Macromedia.

I guess your decision about Director would depend on what your clients need.

    OK...

    I got the idea tho

however, i wasnt talking about navigational buttons, but images (products pictures), so i guess there is a way to do this without using flash (fireworks its better for me)

there is one thing i still dont get on firewors, how to insert images without loosing resolution.
(some of the pics i have are 600dpi) i dont need that resolution in all the pics, but just the main pic on main page(wellcome page)

i did use flash to create some pages tho, like the one with text in the back and a metal-buttefly flying across it. it does look really good tho.
I dont want to sound like a jerk, but the page is not for "everyone" but pretty much the company customers, and they all have flash installed (latest versions of IE and Netscape, i did a reserch), this company WANTS the site with animation on flash and/or fireworks.

do you know where to get more info about CF code?

    thanks

    Arnoldo:

Any fading animated GIF is rather huge. More than one of them on the same
page is more than huge. Remember that the target weight for your ENTIRE
page (including all HTML code, all externally linked files and all images)
is 40-45K so that 56k visitors can download the page in 10 seconds or less.

72 dpi is all you get on the web.

The Macromedia Site is a good place to start.

Are you looking for a slide show type thing. There are some nice extensions
over at this site that might do what you are after with javaScript
