    Default faint photos in PDF

I am using Distiller 3.0 on Mac G3 (beige) OS 9.1. All the photos in the PDF that I created from a PageMaker 6.5 file show up faint, although the text is fine. Whether creating a PDF directly in PageMaker or creating a PostScript file in PageMaker and then distilling it in Distiller, in each case, the photos (originally grayscale TIFF files) come out faint. Any idea how to fix it?

What distiller job settings are you using? Are you using Distiller 3.0
or that latest and greatest Distiller which was either 3.02 or 3.0.3 I
    forget?

Another thing - Acrobat 3 shipped with an RGB ppd for Acrobat Distiller
and didn't even give job options - just one screen (life was fun back
    then eh!) ...

In other words, all your content is *probably* RGB and it's Pagemaker
    performing the colour conversions ...

If you manage to upgrade to Acrobat 5 (ebay of such like) then you
should be OK providing you choose a setting such as PRESS ..
