    Default FASTt, AIX problem

    AIX 4.3.3, fastt600

I've configured fastt600 and aix. Everytings works fine.

fscsi0 Available 1A-08-01 FC SCSI I/O Controller Protocol
dac0 Available 1A-08-01 fcparray Disk Array Controller
hdisk15 Available 1A-08-01 fcparray Disk Array Device
hdisk16 Available 1A-08-01 fcparray Disk Array Device

But then i downloaded and installed the newest device drivers

    devices.pci.df1000f7.com.4.3.3.90.bff
    devices.scsi.scarray.rte.4.3.3.51.bff

after reboot the new devices appears :

    dac1 Available 1A-08-01 1722-600 (600) Disk Array Controller
    hdisk3 Available 1A-08-01 1722-600 (600) Disk Array Device
    hdisk17 Available 1A-08-01 1722-600 (600) Disk Array Device

and the old ones becomes defined
fscsi0 Defined 1A-08-01 FC SCSI I/O Controller Protocol
dac0 Defined 1A-08-01 fcparray Disk Array Controller
hdisk15 Defined 1A-08-01 fcparray Disk Array Device
hdisk16 Defined 1A-08-01 fcparray Disk Array Device

but the logical volumes defined on hdisk15,16 are missed.
The new hdisks 3 and 17 were automatically added durning system
startup. They points to the same LUN's as hdisk15 and16.

    mount -a

    Unable to read superblock (TERMINATED)
    Unable to read superblock (TERMINATED)
mount: 0506-324 Cannot mount /dev/fastlv2 on /oracle/fast/lv2: There is
    an input or output error.

Is it a way to get my lv's back ?

    regards

    Default Re: FASTt, AIX problem

    I suppose you had a volume group defined on hdisk15 + hdisk16 (e.g. datavg)
    ?

    Try following commands :
    ...cleanup the odm
    # exportvg datavg
...then read the VG definitions from hdisk17 and put them in the odm
    # importvg -y datavg hdisk17
...check that you have your volumes back
    # lsvg -l datavg
    ...and finally try to mount
    # mount -a

You will still be stuck with your old (and now redundant) definitions for
fscsi0, dac0 and hdisk15+16. You can remove those if the previous steps
    worked fine with :
    # rmdev -dl hdisk15
    # rmdev -dl ...
    etc.

Just let us know how this turns out ...

    Good luck,

    Koen.
