Fax Service
First I'll say what my problem is, then i'll say what I think it is. Any
help would be really appreciated.
I did a fresh install of Windows server 2003. Everything went cool. I did
NOT install the fax service.
after this was complete I installed a brooktrout fax card. After it found
the card and installed the drivers itself, I realized that the fax service
was not installed. So I went into add/remove programs to install it.
Install went fine.....
The service is running, but when I go into the fax service manager it says
"cannot connect". If i try to go to config the fax, it says it cannot be
found.
I have had this problem before. The way that I fixed it was that I
reinstalled the O/S with the card in the first place. Had no problems.
The problem is that I cannot reinstall the o/s (This has too many
services/users setup).
Can anyone offer any assistance?
I know for sure that the card is ok...windows is seeing it ok and all.
I noticed that it was using the NETWORK SERVICE account to logon. I tried a
number of different settings, including the admin account and local account.
No luck.
PLEASE HELP!
Thank You
Eric Wood

Re: Fax Service
Eric,
I don't think this will be much help but..... I have a 2 port Brooktrout
card in a Win2k3 server, works fine with the Win2k3 drivers. I did install
the fax service first & I was running 2 USB modems. I uninstalled the
modems & added the fax card. Win2k3 found the card & installed drivers.

Re: Fax Service
Eric,
Has the fax service started. I had a problem once where it wouldn't
restart, had to reboot. I wouldn't think it would make a difference which
order you installed the service & card. I think I would uninstall both &
remove the card. Then I would install the Fax Services Windows component &
reboot to be safe. See if the Fax Console opens. If all seems well shut
down & install the fax board. You shouldn't need to reinstall Win2k3 with
the card in place, I didn't.
