...... but i believe that this firmware 3.90a7 ist no bootable firmware.
I´ve an old adapter with 3.82a1 and there is no problem to boot from SAN.
With this one it is a problem.

On the IBM Webpage there is no possibility to download the driver
( from
http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload/download.html#adapter)

There is only the old one available.

Are there any ideas where i can get the new one?
Information about the new driver ist on the page available.

IIRC, 3.90 was released, but there were problems encountered with it. It was
withdrawn and 3.82 reinstated. Although 3.90 is mentioned in the history, 3.82
is the one available to download, at the moment.

Hi.

3.82A1 *is* the *current* microcode level for the FC6228 adapter. The
version that is installed on your adapter *was* a more recent level,
but it was withdrawn because ... youve guessed it, there were problems
with it in relation to booting from SAN. just install the version that
is available on the web site (3.82A1) and you should be just fine. We
are currently booting all of our hosts with this adapter and firmware
revison from our ESS.

Sincerely,

Are you _sure_ this is a FC 6228? That's not an IBM part number,
and it didn't come loaded with IBM firmware. This looks like a
card which was purchased directly from Emulex, rather than from
IBM.

At any rate, 3.82A1 is the latest level of the 6228 microcode
supported by IBM. Version 3.90X3 was released for a short time,
but was withdrawn.

You need the IBM microcode for Fibre Channel boot to work. If
you watch the console at boot, you'll know you are on the right
track when you see the "FCode" eye-catchers--you should see one
for each FC card.
