I have noticed while reading these newsgroups for information that when I
click on a supplied link in a post, that IE 7 will open but the web page
does not appear, no matter how long I wait. All that I see is a blank page
that never completes. Considering that I am on cable, it cannot be a slow
connection issue. I also note that if I copy the link directly into the
address bar and go to the page, that I get right to it, as it should be. So
my question becomes, is this some security feature built into Windows Mail
newsreader, or a reportable bug?

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message:

DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded.


4. If that doesn't fix it, see this article:

5. If you are using WinXP try this:

after you select Auto-Select encoding

You can also try this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP).
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is
probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM
(typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for
WinXP) folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32
for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the
file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'.

You may need to reboot.

I've been having this problem lately aswell, the only solution i found was
that my computer was using too much of the Resources therefor couldnt load
the webpage in the RAM in order for it to display...

Have you tryed opening IE via a link in Outlook with all your programes
closed?

I got IE7 ysterday night . Every time you try a new web address a box appears
and flashes at you until the new site is found by IE7 . This is very
IRRITATING. Is it just my PC or everybody . THere is NO need to see a
flashing box saying connect to ISDN, it just makes me sick .

Never heard of this issue, and never encountered it. Neither on XP nor
Vista.

If you have issues with IE7 on XP then the IE newsgroup is the better
place to be.

Yes,

Using Outlook 2003 works just fine. Links open up as they should. It is only
an issue when opening web links from within a newsgroup post. I have sent in
a bug report on this issue.
