I'm a developer who's been looking for a really classy tool that I can purchase
for my clients that will allow them to easily download, edit and then upload
XML files. We often use XML files to store web application settings, and some
types of content. The major problem is that in most cases we have to build
custom web apps that then allow the client to manage the content contained in
the xml files. I think that if contribute was able to edit XML easily in a
GUI, there could be a huge expansion in it's usefulness and stronger support
from Contributes primary sales people (web developers). I think this would
also allow developers the freedom to use XML more often in cases where they are
currently over-using databases. This would reduce the overall cost of web app
development to the end user, therfore strengthing the position of web
developers who reccomend contribute to their customers, and in turn strengthing
the position of Macrodobe. Or maybe I'm just way to out in left field, either
way I'd love to hear comments from other web develpers, Contribute users, and
Macromedia Contribute Product Managers.
