FH 10 Oversize Window - Macromedia Freehand

When I open a new window or open a file in FreeHand 10 it fills my 23 inch screen completely. I know I can use my pointer and grab the lower right corner and resize it but, that corner is so deep it is difficult to get with the pointer. Is there some way to set the window to open 90% or so? Three steps:
    1. Check Preferences/Doent/Remember window size and location.

    2. Open a new doent. Resize the window to preferred size by dragging the
lower right corner. Save the file as a Template file.

    3. In Preferences/Doent/New Doent Template, select the new template
    file.

It should now give you a window of the desired size. I'm on FHMX, but I'm
pretty sure it has worked this way since at least FH9.

Check your help files for the topic, 'new doent template'. You may have
    to overwrite your previous one.

I have the same problem and I did all the steps you suggested but still the
doent window position is not being saved.

Is there a way to edit the fhprefs file manually to get the desired window
    size/position ?

The doent window size and position is saved with each doent. If you
open the doent on a smaller monitor, it will default to the largest
doent window that can be displayed on that monitor.

I don't think so. FH communicates with the operating system every time it
launches to determine the current display size.
