Freehand 8 for PC

I work for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority and I use Freehand 8 to create and adjust our public timetables. I have been working with Freehand since 1994. I have been overwriting Freehand 8 files to the same directory for at least three years. Recently, however, the files seem to be disappearing from that directory. When I perform a search, the files are shown as shortcuts in another directory and are unable to be opened. I have performed a virus scan with Mcafee and my PC is clean. I have also spoken with my company administrator and he has directed me to speak with other Freehand users regarding this issue. I have been forced to save the files to both the original directory and my ZIP Drive for back-up. Please Help me!!!
