FHMX 11.0 was hopelessly slow when redrawing such files. If you update to
FHMX 11.0.2, redraw of files like this will still not be blazingly fast but
it will be much improved over FHMX 11.0.
By ungrouping elements, you have discovered what I believe is a core flaw in
the way FHMX handles groups. I'm speculating, but I believe group-level
attributes are created and tracked for every group in the file. When the
file contains hundreds of groups, this slows down redraw considerably.
Nested groups compound the problem exponentially.
Maybe newsgroup regular, 'davecc' will jump in here with his experiences. He
works with files like this.
