FHMX11.02 starts fine, then s l o w s down - Macromedia Freehand

Is this just me? On XP (plenty of everything-professional workstations), FHMX 11.02 is just not fast on the initialization/startup, also as the work gets more complex (I do technical illustration) it forces me to work in keyline. If I do not switch to keyline, the programme almost gets into a "hang" with every point placed. It gets so slow on the redraw that I SAVE and exit just so the work is not lost. This is pure vector work, and should not bog down at all. I remember this kind of issue caused me to give up on FH10. I ...

I do use FHMX11.02 on the Mac stations as well (but I do prefer the speed of
the Win machines) and do not have the slow down issues.
Macromedia products have long fueled my business. I really had no issues with
FHMX 11, but the updater seems to have been when the problem began. I have put
up with it. Now I am asking if this is a common bug.
Any info would be great. As my pal Ian would say,"Cheers".

Two known reasons for redraw slowdown in FHMX are
    1. Raster effects at high resolution
    2. Large numbers of nested groups

Instead of working with nested groups as in previous versions of FH, you
might try using layers instead of groups to organize the illustration.

    Judy,
You have been a good tech adviser. But I have always used layers, tending to
stay away from group nesting. The same issues bog me tonight as I rush through
screenprint spot seperations. The big hang happens when I magnify to x256 for
trapping. Again, all vector...no grads, no fills, no raster effects. Pure
vectors. Bogs down to perhaps 30 seconds between redraws. This is when I do
something as simple as selecting a closed path! I select magnify/zoom in the
area, then WAIT....then select the path, then WAIT....then press delete, then
    WAIT...!
    Ack!
It gets okay only when I drop back by using CTRL + SHIFT + W to fit to page.
If I can run in Keyline, I do. But sometimes I really need to see the
    colours/fills!

I could forward the art for you to play with. Have someone open it in FH11.02
on an XP machine. Then pull in at x256 with PREVIEW resolution. But whomever
does it had better have a sandwich, there will be time to eat it between moves!

    Thanks again,
    Jeff
