~ FHMXa 11.0.1 - cannot download update - rejects MX Studio S/N

I cannot download the update. It keeps telling me that my S/N is invalid.

I own MX Studio 2003.
It contains only 1 S/N for the entire product line.
It will not let me use it to download the update.

I have had nothing but problems with Freehand. I was hoping in vain that they would finally do a real update to this software. It looks as if they need to go back to formula & re-engineer the application from the ground up. There are so many problems that it would probably be faster than trying to upgrade the thing.

They should really create a new product. Suspend progress on upgrading Freehand (it seems as if they have already done that) & start a new application engineered for Mac OS X & Win 2k+. I would buy it even if it had 1/8th the features of Freehand. Basically, clone Fireworks & remove the pixel editing junk & the rasterization. Add a multi-page art-board & spot colors & bang, a new app. Oh,well...

My only alternative to Freehand is Adobe Illustrator & InDesign, but I can't afford to keep updating Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver & Adobe Illustrator & InDesign.

If someone offered a packae with Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator & InDesign, I would explode with delight. Or just add milti-pages to illustrator (they won't cause they don't want to lose business on InDesign)

I really do want the FHMXa 11.0.1 update though! (and I really do prefer working in freehand over everything, when it works, I even put up with the crashes, bugs & such, just to use my beloved Freehand)

Same here. I have Studio MX 2004, and I guess the download form is expecting a Freehand serial number, and not a Studio serial number, which as you say has one serial number for all products.

Improper planning... Macromedia assuming that everyone had an individual
Freehand MX serial number, when all they have been pushing for the last 1.5
years is Studio MX... funny, huh?

Let's see... it's 1:53PM Central Standard Time, Friday, September 12, 2003,
as I write this... that makes it 11:53AM Pacific Time... what... Macromedia
customer service just decides to take off the rest of the day while
hundreds, thousands have problems downloading updates because of a
Macromedia problem???

What is wrong with this company!??!?!??!

Well, I don't know what's wrong on MM's end now but my Studio MX serial
(WSW600-...) was accepted without a problem when I downloaded and
installed FH 11.0.1 here on my work machine. I really wonder why people
have problems later in the day.

Actually, Linda, it has nothing to do with happiness, but Macromedia's own
confession that they are, in fact, seeing the same thing that is reported
here: it's a matter of communication from one department to the next: "Hey,
we'll be providing the Freehand MX update this Friday, web engineering,
please make sure that Studio MX serial numbers will work with the web app."
That's what I am talking about.

And yes, reading that Macromedia Customer Service has taken the afternoon
off after a major minor release like this update does make me ask, "What's
wrong with this company?" It has nothing to do with being happy, and nothing
to do with complaining. We asked for an update, and Macromedia gave us one.
Now we just want to be able to download it.

And no, I would probably wait for Chocolate Cake 11.1 (not 11.0.1) before I
accepted it ;0)

It is 6pm Monday night and the updater still denies my Studio MX(+) serial number WSW600... AND I don't get any chocolate cake either!
