Default File Menu Disappears

Pardon my ignorance at finding an answer...but when I close a pdf file (without closing Acrobat program) my "FILE" menu disappears and "EDIT" becomes the leftmost menu item. Please advise as to how to disable this annoyance.

I think this is behaviour characteristic of having A FAX program installed maube EFax or JetFax. I can't remember what the name is. Perhaps you could try uninstalling it to so if that then allows you to retain your File menu. Apprently the eFAX company are aware of it so maybe you could ask them if they found a fix yet.

Just found what appears to be a solution for this. I have eFax Messenger Plus 3.0.1.9 installed, so your mileage may vary.

I went to the eFax Messenger Plus Start Menu group. Under Messenger Tools, I choose Live Menu Settings. Under Live Menu options, I moved Acrobat Reader 4.0,5.0 and Adobe Acrobat 4.0, 5.0 to the Hide menu side.

Just to confirm, I am using Adobe Acrobat 6.0...not just reader, and not the 5.0 versions.

This APPEARS to have worked for me. I was able to quickly test by opening multiple documents and my file menu never went away. I "unhid" these apps, and my file menu disappeared again.

Let's have some others try it out and see if this solves it!

That seemed to work for me too. I've been struggling with this problem for over a year. Amazes me that the solution was never posted in the Knowledge Base.

    Thanks a lot.

Now if I can just get the AWEXfiles.txt error fixed when I click on Adobe Online from the Help menu, I'd be a happy camper.

I am having the same problem, however, I use the J2.com fax program, not the eFax Messenger Plus. If anyone has a fix they think would work for me, please let me know.

    my e-mail is akirwan@kirwanlawfirm.com

    Thanks

I have brought this problem to the attention of the retards at Adobe on countless occasions, but in keeping with their established high standards when it come to servicing customers who shell out the $500 to purchase the program, they have provided no assistance whatsoever.

Aren't J2 and eFax the same thing?

Thank you W T Allen for making that observation. You were right and the fix seems to have worked for me.

Thanks for everyone's input on this thread. This problem has been bothering me some a while now. It is nice to finally have it solved.
