Re: File->Open->Details
If you're using Windows, the view in the Open dialog box is controlled by Windows, not Photoshop. Under Windows XP, My Pictures and subfolders thereof always use a thumbnails view, so don't put your images under My Pictures.

Re: File->Open->Details
Right clicking the downward pointing arrow does nothing; left clicking it of course brings down the menu and I then select 'Details' but neither right- nor left-clicking Details will make it the default.

Re: File->Open->Details
I'm using XP Pro; I've got my images filed in separate created folders that are not under My Pictures.
Details is selected as the default View for the folder in question and when I open that folder via My Computer-->etc-->etc Details _is_ the default view.
It is just from within PS7 that I am unable to make Details the default view when opening files in that folder.
