File Share limits with XP Home
Hey everyone,
I have a client that is using XP Home and has a peer to
peer network. One computer holds the shared files and
has that folder shared on the network. All was well
until we added another computer. Now the file share
still works for the first four computers that connect to
the share but the 5th computer is denied access. The 5th
computer is not always the same computer but the 5th one
to attach to the share. What gives?

File Share limits with XP Home
Mike,
Might be a limit of XP home. I know XP Pro and Windows
2000 Pro will only allow 10 concurrent connections. On the
11th, it refuses any more connections. This is hard-coded
in the kernel.
