File Share limits with XP Home

    Default File Share limits with XP Home

    Hey everyone,

    I have a client that is using XP Home and has a peer to
    peer network. One computer holds the shared files and
    has that folder shared on the network. All was well
    until we added another computer. Now the file share
    still works for the first four computers that connect to
    the share but the 5th computer is denied access. The 5th
    computer is not always the same computer but the 5th one
    to attach to the share. What gives?

    Default File Share limits with XP Home

    Mike,
    Might be a limit of XP home. I know XP Pro and Windows
    2000 Pro will only allow 10 concurrent connections. On the
    11th, it refuses any more connections. This is hard-coded
    in the kernel.
