FileMaker Pro and Cold Fusion
I think it can be done. But I'm new at this and have only set up Cold Fusion
to work on an Access database.
So can I do with FileMaker Pro? And how would I see the tables to query them
for SQL?
And do you have any good resources for helping me learn to do this?
Thanks!!

Re: FileMaker Pro and Cold Fusion
Pretty sure that Filemaker Pro works with ODBC. If correct then you should
be able to create a DSN like your Access solution.

Good luck.
Filemaker plays with odbc and sql with regards to bringing data in, but not sending data out.

Re: FileMaker Pro and Cold Fusion
Dan, I heard that others had successfully configured their FM database to serve
data through the ODBC connection:

This may be the explanation that everyone's been looking for.

check out

this CF site is backed by a filmaker database in real time, and is really
fast. Virtually evreything you see (all the text, and images) is pulled form
fielaker fields, and booking are palced back in Fm in realtime.

Re: FileMaker Pro and Cold Fusion
Btw this all ODBC. The search data is looaed into CF arrays every three hours
and tgsu user searches do not hit the database. This does speed things up a
second or so.
The latest version of Filemaker Server is an industrial strength tool with
ODBC speeds for straitfoward queries comparable to SQLserver (50-75% as fast)
although performance under very high volumes may not be as good (no test data
available on that issue afaik.)
However for small business, or a modest sized piece of a big business. FM is
a very productive tool for the in-office management and use of data on the back
end. All of which makes FM/CF a potent combination, imho.
