    Lawrence,
    >>Why was it left on the partition?<<
You exited windows without closing down Photoshop?

If that happens, Photoshop should delete the old temp file when next
    started.

    Thanks, both.
Len, you are probably right as I had a wierd event between attempting to scan with too large a file demand, PS "Not Responding" and everything collapsing on itself when I clicked "End Now" Boy, did it ever! When everything was up and running again, I did a Defrag check, and found 10,000 fragments on a Temp file, which also was way too big! My recollection is that it corresponded to the date of the Scratch file. I should have found it then, but I didn't check the Scratch partition during that defrag session, as usually there is no need to defrag that.
