Files size and sending e-mail
This is so off-subject, but I am so very frustrated with Microsoft. Went to their web site to ask a question, after three tries to log in to Net Passport and being rejected, I went to my Hotmail site and logged in there. Backtracked to Microsoft (where it says I'm now logged in) and tried three more times to enter my product ID number. Now it says I have an invalid product ID number. I just want to ask a simple question!
I was wondering, and these are Illustrator files by the way, why the files size increases when mail is being sent. I can view the attachment size and it is correct but it changes when I hit send. An example is one I just sent. It was a 7 MB file but when I hit send, it changed to 10.3 Mb. Is there any way to prevent this? This happens compressed and uncompressed.
Thank you.

Re: Files size and sending e-mail
Not an expert on this subject, but I do know that all your attachments are translated (encoded) as they're sent through e-mail. I don't know specifically why the file size would go up, but the data being sent is not the same precise data that's stored on your disk. It may effect the file size that you're observing.
How do you know that the file is increasing in size, btw? Do you see a file size increase somewhere on your end? Or is your recipient telling you the file is larger?

Re: Files size and sending e-mail
The file size on my hard drive is much smaller than the file size listed when the mail is being sent in the "progress" window.
