files with transparency don't print in Illustrator CS?

I have been trying to print images (.eps and .tif files) as well as vector art created in Illustrator that all have a transparency applied to them. Sometimes it's the opacity level reduced (e.g. 50%), sometimes the transparency is set to "multiply" within a layer. When the files prints (on a Xerox DocuColor 12) all of the elements will print except for the "transparent" ones—they don't show up at all! I have checked all of the transparency controls in the print dialogue box to no avail. Any suggestions?

Many of our printers do not even show trapping, so maybe that is your problem?

Test a printer that you know shows trapping, even if you have to make a match print from negs. It would be worth it.
