    have scanned some jewellery images with the gray or other backgrounds. want that backgound should be completely white without any change in the effect of the jewellery images.

    Try using the magic earaser tool, or even the fill tool, clicking on the backgound will either remove it, or fill it with your selected colour,play with the tolarance untill you get the desisred affect.
