filters don't work for big images
hi all!
think it's just a simple problem - however i can't resolve it:
photoshop6 filters (relief, basrelief etc ) perfeclty work on 1024x768 images. however if i want to apply the filter to a 5000x5000 image, the effect is almost not visible anymore. last night for example i tried to create a rock-like image. i started with the cloud filter (rendering filters) - on my 5000x5000 it turned out with way too much detail, that prevented the image from looking realistic at all.
do i have to - sort of - scale filters? i mean it does not make sense, that the filters fade, the bigger the image gets. (if i zoom into the window at 100% i can see the filters, but never on the entire image)
hope someone can help

Re: filters don't work for big images
Many filters and effects call for pixel settings, so yes you will need different settings for different resolutions. The only accurate screen representation in PS is 100%. This is the case for any size file.

Re: filters don't work for big images
Its another area where the filters need to be updated. Because all these filters are now very old they were never designed for such large images.
With broad random effects like clouds there is not a lot to be lost by upsampling them

Re: filters don't work for big images
I usually apply a filter to a copy layer of what I want it to work on. That makes fine tuneing it a lot easier.
