Find Font crashes ID (Font isn't in doc either)
Hi all,
I've had this problem for a while & have done everything I know to try & solve it. No luck so I'm hoping one of you will have an idea. This has occurred in more than one document, but I'll use the present one I'm working on as an example.
When I open the document the missing font dialog box pops up saying I'm missing the fonts (in this case) "Stagecoach Roman" and "Center City Condensed Regular". If I go to the Find Font dialog it shows them as missing fonts. When I select the fonts in the missing list with More Info turned on it says Character Count: 0, Page: none for Center City and Character Count: 17, Page: none for Stagecoach. If I click Find First or Change to try & locate or replace the font then ID crashes. If I check the error report in XP it says "AppName: indesign.exe, AppVer: 2.2.0.710, ModName: text.rpln, ModVer: 2.2.0.710, Offset: 00064b54"
I've checked all Paragraph & Character styles, checked the paste board just in case, done a save as, searched the Knowledge Base & searched this forum. I've found that other people have had this problem, but it seems so far no one has solved it. I've even deleted all master pages & objects from the doc so it's just a single page empty doc, but it still says they're missing. These are fonts I had on a system a while back & somehow they seem to have left a footprint of some type on this document.
The only way I've been able to solve it at all is to go page by page & copy and paste each page into a new document. This will work, but I'm getting sick of having to rebuild long documents into new ones & would like to find a better solution.
I'm running XP Home w/ ID 2.0.2
Thanks in advance,
Brian Eberling

Re: Find Font crashes ID (Font isn't in doc either)
Brian,
Check if you have optical margin alignment enabled (Type|Story). If you do, disable it and see if the problem persists. This is a problem in ID 2, but has been fixed in ID CS.

Thanks for the idea Peter, unfortunately that didn't do it. It's not enabled on any of my documents.
