Default Finder quits while I use Photoshop PS in Panther

When using photoshop the Finder quits repeatedly in the background. Sometimes it quits many times in succession.

    Thus far I have tried.

    Throwing away the finder prefs.
    Re-installing Photoshop CS.
Doing the date and time 'Cludge'.
Logging in as another user to see if the problem follows me (it did).
And looking for leaking applications(?) of which there were none.

    Any suggestions?

If the finder Keeps quitting I'd be suspect of your system install. reinstall using archive and install.
