Fint changes when inporting PDF file to Quark Xpress 6.5
I have a PDF file that has what looks to be a Times Roman font. When it is imported to Quark 6.5 the font changes to italic? Can I change the font in the PDF file? I have the fill Acrobat Pro on a Mac G4.

Re: Fint changes when inporting PDF file to Quark Xpress 6.5
You can if the font was embedded. Otherwise, it's a lot of raster work.
In Acrobat, under the Advanced tab, select Preflight. The top profile that loads is fine. Click Execute.
Any and all errors pertaining to the compliance of the file in question related to whatever profile is selected will show up.
Check the twirly for fonts and it will tell you there if it is embedded.
The other thing is to be sure you don't have multiple versions of Times Roman open that may have a conflict. If you use Suitcase, under Tools select Manage Duplicates...if a list pops up, find Times, twirl down and remove one of the fonts. (Usually, whichever has the fewer faces)

But - if the font is embedded to begin with - and it changesupon
re-processing in Quark - it is a Quark bug typically.
Out of interest, providing the PDF passes the PDF/X-1a preflight (let's
just focus on the fonts) - does this process correctly within InDesign
s/CS/CS2? It proabably will ;-)

Thanks Jon. The newspaper has gone to press and I no longer have the file. As a rather laborious emergency fix I recreated the file data in Excel made an image of it and used that. I am filing your info and if/when it shows up again I will get on it.
