Fire wire cable for D1 - Photography

Is this cable all you need to transfer pictures from a Nikon D1 camera to a PC?. Is this a basic USB cable? How do most users of the Nikon digital cameras transfer pictures from their camera to a PC?....

Victor... Does it bother you that much that I post to this group. I been a
long time 35mm user and have posted to this group for awhile now. I find it
very useful. And for the most part, the people in here now their stuff. Read
the subject before you open the thread. If it doesn't interst you - move on.

It is just a standard 6 pin to 6 pin cable. Don't buy the Nikon part
    it is way too expensive.

You don't have to use it if you have a card reader of some sort:
though it is a must if you want to use Nikon Capture to change
settings and/or shoot from a computer. Shooting directly to a
computer is way faster than writing to a card.

If you are buying a card reader make sure it is USB 2 (if your
computer supports it) or firewire. USB 1.0/1.1 is just way too slow.

Why do you waste your energy like this? Wouldn't be easier to just ignore
    the post?
