Firefox Soon To Be Stomped Out Of Existence
Bill Gates has made it official and the IEBlog [1] confirms IE7 is on the
way.
Still, I think having two competing browser initiatives is a good idea even
though I will mourn the passing of Firefox (Gecko). Its so sad when children
lose their lives before they even get a chance to enjoy what life has to
offer <sniff /> even if the child was the prodigy of and also named after a
little rat [2]. <sniff />

Re: Firefox Soon To Be Stomped Out Of Existence
Or perhaps Firefox is so much better that people will laugh at IE7. After
all, they don't have the luxury of tying it to a Windows OS cause the next
OS is more than a year away. I think this is a good thing .. IE has to
compete on the same level this time.

Re: Firefox Soon To Be Stomped Out Of Existence
What are you talking about? When IE first came out, it wasn't tied that
closely to the OS. Version 3 and 4 were the ones that were out when it took
over Netscape, and there was some separation between the browser and the OS.
But competition is always a good thing, and I think it would be a bad thing
if either of these browsers went down for the count.

I'm talking about the fact that when I upgraded to Win 2K Pro .. IE 5 was
part of the package. When I upgraded to Win XP Pro, IE 6 was part of the
deal. Some separation? If you start with a clean machine, they install
together. I don't see that as a lot of separation.

adheres more to standards .. we'll see what Microsoft does with this next
version.
