    Default Fireworks and Adobe photoshop

HELP! I installed DreamweaverMX on my computer and now all my Adobe Photoshop files have been changed to Fireworks files. Anyone with any information as to why this happened please let me know. I just saved another Adobe Illustrator file as a gif and it changed to a Fireworks file also.

do you mean that if you double-click on them, Windows opens Fireworks?

if that's the case (and if you're on a PC), double-click My Computer on your desktop, then choose Tools > Folder Options...

select the File Types tab and scroll down to GIF. look in the "Details for 'GIF' extension. see where it says "Opens with"? that's the program Windows launches in order for you to view all GIF files. right now, it probably says Fireworks MX 2004. simply hit the Change button and browse to Photoshop (or whatever program you want to use to view GIFs).

repeat this procedure for all other affected file types, like JPG, PNG, and maybe even PSD.

    hope that helps!
