    Default Fireworks: frames? layers?

    okay, bizarre request:
could someone take a moment & explain the difference between "layers" &
    "frames"?

I don't believe I intentionally created any 'animation' on my Fireworks 2
file, but for some reason I have multiple 'frames' that contain varying
    images for each layer.

    what the heck is:
    1. going on?
    2. did I do?
    3. did I misunderstand??

(yes I know: I'm monkeying around with Fireworks 2, until I can afford the
    sizeable upgrade...)

    TIA !

Layers are for building up parts of an image. An example would be
drawing a circle for a head on one layer, the eyes on a second layer,
the nose on a third layer, and the mouth on a fourth layer.

Frames are for making parts that appear to move, such as rollovers and
animations. Think of frames as like the frames in a strip of film.

I don't remember Fireworks 2 well enough to guess what you might have done.

Did you by any chance try to make rollover buttons? If you did, that is
probably why the frames are there.
